I was asked to take over a Portrait Photography class in the continuing ed department at MIAD due to the instructor’s health. So I’ve now had two classes with the group and I’m really enjoying it! I’ve always loved portraiture, but have never officially taught a class on it. So in preparation, I’ve been coming up with genre’s of portrait photography and thinking about assignments.
This week, I assigned the class to do a Self-Portrait. In preparing my lecture, I ran across this cool website which has some famous self-portraits of photographers. For some, such as Cindy Sherman, her entire body of work is self portraiture, but for the others, I thought it was really interesting to see how the self portrait really reflected the work of the photographer.

Next week I’m headed to Minneapolis to assist photographer John Neinhuis. I’ve never been to Minneapolis so I’m looking forward to checking it out!
